HTC, the Taiwan smartphone vendor, has posted historically highest quarterly revenues of $3.50 billion.
The firm has also announced a net profit in the first quarter of 2011, according to the company at an investors conference.
Indeed, HTC shipped 9.7 million smartphones in the first quarter, growing six per cent on quarter and 192 per cent on the previous year.
Meanwhile, new research has suggested that the NFC mobile payments technology is expected to see substantial growth over the next three years.
A study conducted by Juniper Research found that one in every five smartphones will be NFC compatible by 2014.
By 2014, NFC technology will be in use by around 300 million smartphones around the world, the research firm said.
"Juniper's market analysis highlighted that, although there are still hurdles ahead, NFC prospects have been boosted by the succession of mobile operator and device vendor announcements," explained Howard Wilcox, who wrote and compiled the report.
