Wireless communication device users will be interested to hear that the Wi-Fi equipment market is expected to see more than nine per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2011 to 2016.
This is according to research conducted by ABI Research, which said that the enterprise segment will contribute the bulk of the growth at more than 21 per cent CAGR.
"In volume shipment terms, the consumer segment is forecast to see more than 112 million units by 2016, representing more than 63 per cent growth over 2010," commented Peter Cooney, semiconductors practice director at ABI Research.
The growth rate of the Wi-Fi equipment market was slow in 2009 due to the unhealthy economy, ABI Research explained. However, the market saw strong growth in the last two quarters of last year.
