In news that may interest wireless communication device customers and manufacturers, Patrick Tarbitt, business manager at small business sector sales at Cisco UK and Ireland, has observed that VoIP has a number of benefits versus traditional phone lines.
Customers can, he explained, save from 20 per cent to over 50 per cent on monthly line rental, "due to the lower cost of Session Initiation Protocol trunks versus the existing ISDN/Analogue".
Mr Tarbitt added: "Cost savings increase for customers using larger numbers of lines.
"For example, [with] 12 channels you can save about 40 per cent, 30 channels you can save about 53 per cent."
In other news, Motorola has announced that the world's first combined laptop and phone is to go on sale on Orange in early May, for £35 per month.
It has been confirmed that the Atrix smartphone will be available from May on Orange for free with a £35 per month.
The Google Android-powered smartphone comes with a range of accessories and docks.
