In news that may interest wireless communication device manufacturers, an IT expert has claimed that broadband is considered to be an essential service by the majority of people.
Edd Dawson, editor of broadband.co.uk, observed that this statement is especially true of the younger generation.
"If you aren't online you are missing out on so many opportunities nowadays, in terms of media consumption, on-demand things like iPlayer [or] on-demand TV that kind of thing," he remarked.
"People are also missing out on things like finding the best deals when it comes to comparing product prices, insurance, or any kind of service [and] also government services."
Mr Dawson added that it is becoming more and more essential for some people who work at home and rely on an internet connection to carry out their jobs.
Broadband.co.uk provides expert advice to anyone who is either upgrading their broadband connection or signing up for the first time.
