In news that may be of interest to wireless communication device users, Swedish automaker Volvo has launched a new application which allows drivers to stay in touch with their parked car via an iPhone or Android smartphone.
Volvo explained that the new app is the most comprehensive for controlling and monitoring the car from anywhere at any time.
Steve Jacoby, vice-president of Volvo, commented: "We design cars around people's needs and lifestyle.
"Creating an intuitive driver's environment is part of our aim to offer a feeling of relaxed control. It is only logical that you should feel in command of your vehicle - even after you've parked it."
The app, which is an extension of Volvo On Call, will ensure that drivers can make use of a range of connectivity possibilities via an iPhone or Android smartphone.
Volvo confirmed that the app is free and can be downloaded via the iPhone and Android application stores.
