An industry expert has claimed that the UK is dragging its heals when it comes to mobile broadband, wireless communication device customers may be interested to learn.
Chris Marling, editor of Broadband Genie, noted that in the US and some parts of Europe 4G mobile broadband with speeds averaging more than 10Mb is already a reality.
He observed that in Britain "we are lucky to average 1Mb".
Asked whether a lack of broadband access is preventing many people from flexible working, he said: "A lack of superfast broadband isn't the main barrier to many people working from home - it's untrusting bosses and a failure of many traditional businesses to move with the times."
However, Mr Marling acknowledged that there are exceptions where there are issues to do with logging into complex office-based networks from outside the building.
In most cases, though, these issues can be overlooked or overcome "with a bit of imagination or financial outlay".
