In news that may interest wireless communication device manufacturers, Fasthosts Internet has claimed that business information security is being put at risk because employees are given too much freedom when taking data away from the working environment.
Steve Holford, marketing director at the online services supplier, commented: "Too many workers are taking risks with work-related data and documents."
It is significant, he explained, that most of those surveyed are "expected to determine their own method for transferring data off-site" as well as storing it.
"Particularly at home or when travelling, this can often lead to complacency and so a real risk to the business," Mr Holford said.
According to research by Fasthosts Internet, an alarming number of UK office workers admit to putting work-related data at risk whilst working off-site.
Some 37 per cent of Brits have taken risks with work-related data or documents, the web hosting provider said.
