Samsung's LED-manufacturing subsidiary has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Osram’[curly]s Korean division, in addition to two companies that sell Osram LEDs in Korea.
The firm, which has requested an injunction, is claiming for damages against Osram Korea, Barun Electronics and Dabo Industrial System in Seoul, Korea.
This comes shortly after Osram's own legal action in the US against both Samsung and LG.
Samsung has hinted at further legal action in the future, stating that the Korean suit is its "first response" to Osram's initial action.
"Samsung LED is developing a measured response," the firm said.
In other industry news, National Semiconductor, a technology manufacturer, last week unveiled the first 2A red, green and blue LED driver for portable projectors.
According to the firm, the device's projectors drive three common anode red, green and blue high-brightness LEDs sequentially through a single inductor.
The new LED combats the growing problem of space contracts on pocket projectors.
