A technology expert has claimed that location-aware applications pushed to tablet and smartphone users are critical to the future success of the mobile market, wireless communication device manufacturers may be interested to learn.
Adobe chief technology officer Kevin Lynch showcased an example of the technology, dubbed 'Apps Around You', on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet at the Open Mobile Media summit in London last week.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet received notifications of relevant applications about museums and restaurants, v3.co.uk has reported.
"This is a vision piece about where we could be heading with applications that could be useful as you move around, and it's going to get radically better in the future," he explained.
Meanwhile, a new survey has revealed that the number of US smartphone users averaged 74.6 million from February through April.
This is, Comscore explained, a 13 per cent rise from the previous three months. Comscore also confirmed that 234 million Americans over the age of 12 were using mobile devices.
