Broadbandchoices.co.uk has suggested that there is still a regional gap in the UK when it comes to broadband, wireless communication device manufacturers may be interested to learn.
Recently, Ofcom acknowledged that rural areas in the UK tend to have lower broadband speeds.
According to Michael Phillips, product director for Broadbandchoices.co.uk, there needs to be more leadership from the government to narrow the digital gap.
"In terms of how you fix it," Mr Phillips explained, "it needs leadership from government [and] investment from government, because commercial organisations will invest in infrastructure and exchanges where they know they are going to get a return on their investment."
He added: "It is up to the government to plug those gaps and it is what we need as a capital economy."
Earlier this month, Ofcom confirmed that, across the UK as a whole, 68 per cent of UK premises have a fixed broadband connection.
