It has been confirmed that free Wi-Fi internet access is to be offered in hundreds of Tesco stores, wireless communication device users may be interested to learn.
The overarching purpose of the move is to ensure that shoppers compare prices and read reviews of products they are considering buying.
Tesco is following coffee shops, fast food outlets and hotels by offering free Wi-Fi to its customers.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Tesco's chief information officer Mike McNamara explained that consumers were already using mobile technology to check the store's prices against those of its rivals.
"You can stand there Canute-like and pretend nothing is happening ... or you can say it's happening, and I am going to help it happen," he said. "My guess is it will go to all stores."
Tesco is, of course, one of the UK's leading supermarkets and it is widely believed that other stores may soon follow suit, wireless communication device users may be interested to learn.
