In news that may interest wireless communication device users, Mozilla, the firm best known for its Firefox internet browser, is set to introduce its very own mobile operating platform.
It is currently working on a new mobile operating platform developers have called "Boot to Gecko" or B2G, Mozilla confirmed.
Boot to Gecko is a free and open source layout engine, Mozilla said, adding that it will be interfaced with some existing code currently used in Android.
"This project is in its infancy," Mozilla revealed. "Some pieces of it are only captured in our heads today, others aren't fully explored.
"We're talking about it now because we want expertise from all over Mozilla - and from people who aren't yet part of Mozilla - to inform and build the project."
As of March 2011, Firefox is the second most widely used browser. Indeed, the firm boasts approximately 30 per cent of worldwide usage share of web browsers
