Wireless communications firm Apple is greener than its rivals Samsung and Nokia.
This is according to a report released by market research company Interbrand, which ranked 50 brands based on consumer perceptions of green brands in the world's ten largest markets.
Apple, Samsung and Nokia all appeared in the top 25 green companies, the Independent has reported.
Further to this, Apple ranked the highest in 13th position followed by Nokia (22nd) and Samsung (25th).
Interbrand, the firm behind the research, commented on how the difference between efforts and consumer perceptions can affect a brand's green credentials, explaining: "Nokia, which has consistently ranked high in terms of green performance ... trail[s] behind competitors in terms of customers' perception of its efforts."
Earlier this week, Carphone Warehouse, Europe's biggest independent mobile phone retailer, announced sales at European stores open more than a year fell 3.3 per cent in the first quarter of its financial year.
