Wireless communication device manufacturer HTC is likely to see its sales revenue surge to hit a record high in the third quarter of 2011.
This is according to HTC'S chief executive Peter Chou, who suggested that his firm is set to launch six to eight new models in the third quarter.
The firm recently reported its smartphone sales of 12.11 million units for the second quarter of 2011, a 25 per cent rise from a quarter earlier.
Mr Chou explained that this exceeded its original projection of between 11 million and 11.5 million units to hit a new high, cens.com has reported.
Meanwhile, Colm Bracken, group search manager at Microsoft, claimed recently that the number of people using their smartphone to surf the web is increasing at a significant rate.
He observed that increasing numbers of consumers are browsing the internet via mobile devices, adding that this growth is being driven by the uptake of smartphones.
