Dave Pye, executive member of the technology sector group at the Recrutiment and Employment Confederation and chief executive officer of the JM Group, observed that if there are not SAP contractor candidates in the UK, "most of the companies that will be affected are global organisations".
"When you implement an SAP project, it is a big project worldwide. Talent for SAP does move around the globe," Mr Pye said.
"I don't know if there is any evidence of the fact that more people are coming from outside of Europe. I just think it is a global talent base. People with good SAP skills tend to move around."
He told wireless communication device users and others that it is very realistic to assume that the UK can compete globally for SAP expertise.
"There are many big global organisations that have huge bases in the UK," he explained.
