Supermarket giant Asda has launched a mobile optimised transactional grocery site, wireless communication device users may be interested to know.
The new site allows customers to buy Asda groceries online using a smartphone.
Asda.com's grocery website allows customers to register, shop and amend an existing order.
The home shopping service, which has been in operation since 2001, covers 97 per cent of UK postcodes with deliveries.
Kate Cuthbertson, Asda's head of mobile strategy, commented: "The mobile site was an international collaboration between Asda and the Walmart mobile team based in the US.
"We'll be constantly updating and improving the site over the next few months, with lots more interesting mobile developments to follow soon."
Since October 2010, the Asda Price Guarantee iPhone App has been downloaded by more than 250,000 customers.
Meanwhile, Nikki Moore, founder of girlgeekchic.com, said that consumers are set to see enhanced connectivity with the next generation of smartphones.
She explained that with cloud computing, this development is just around the corner.
