Social media will soon become "very, very important" in shaping the way we bank.
This is according to Lawrence Gold, who has presented the BBC's Bank of Mum & Dad.
Technological development had made things simpler for customers, Mr Gold said, adding that this progress was likely to continue, wireless communication device users will be interested to know.
"I don't necessarily want to go into a bank branch; I want to be able to do it at my desk or at home," he remarked. "There is the internet, and social networks are going to become very, very important.
"If I want to move money now, and if you go on the internet you can do that. If you go into the branch, it takes time."
Video conferencing, Mr Gold suggested, could even be used in situations where customers preferred a face-to-face meeting with their bank manager.
Research by Cable&Wireless Worldwide found that 60 per cent of customers see online banking as the most important element of banking.
