South Africa has seen a smartphone impressions growth of 21 per cent over the past quarter, wireless communication device users may be interested to know.
InMobi, an independent mobile advertising network, shows there were 2.6 billion mobile advertising impressions in South Africa.
Isis Nyong'o, vice-president and managing director of InMobi Africa, explained: "Mobile ad impressions continue to grow at a rapid pace across the continent.
"The smartphone segment continues to show strong growth in South Africa with RIM OS as a notable highlight."
Mobile access, she added, has given consumers a "convenient, affordable way to access digital content wherever they are".
Meanwhile, ABI Research has suggested that touchscreen technology is a key driver of smartphone market growth.
Touchscreens will feature on 97 per cent of all smartphones over the next five years, the firm said.
ABI Research said touchscreens can claim as much credit for the success of smartphones as can 3G data speeds.
