Wireless communication device firm 02 has suggested that cloud computing can imbue "a completely different dynamic" in businesses, wireless communication device users may be interested to learn.
Nicola Mortimer, head of ICT and business development at the mobile company, remarked: "From a market perspective, you've obviously got access to the complete market space that's online as opposed to being restricted to where your feet on the street can go."
The cloud, she explained, could also offer employees "greater mobility", thereby helping them achieve a better work-life balance.
"It allows them to only pay for services as they use them; it's a utility-based type of computing," she commented. "That would be a very key aspect for reducing costs within a business."
According to a survey conducted recently by iReach on behalf of O2, 54 per cent of businesses in Ireland were unsure about what cloud computing meant.
O2 said that the main barriers to adoption are 'security of data', which was cited by 68 per cent of all respondents.
