A technology expert has cast doubt over Amazon's new Kindle Fire device, which has been predicted by some commentators to rival Apple's iPad in the wireless communication device market.
Ovum analyst Adam Leach observed that the new Amazon product features a seven-inch screen, while most other manufacturers favour the larger ten-inch displays.
While this feature means that Amazon is able to charge a relatively low price for the Kindle Fire, Mr Leach has suggested that it may transpire to be an unpopular design feature.
"This screen size has undoubtedly helped them achieve a lower price point for the device but so far this form factor has not been popular with consumers, we shall see if this is related to other aspects of those devices other than its screen size," he explained.
Although Amazon has already achieved success with its original Kindle device, it remains to be seen whether the firm is able to compete with Apple at the top end of the market.
