Analysts have downplayed suggestions that Amazon's new Kindle Fire device will emerge as the biggest competitor to Apple's iPad, wireless communication device users may wish to know.
Launched in New York earlier this week, the Kindle Fire is an extension of the manufacturer's range of e-reader devices, boasting the capability to play films, TV programmes and music.
Forrester analyst Sarah Rotman Epps revealed that while she expects the device to become a hit, it will still struggle to compete with the iPad as it is unlikely to get the same level of commercial exposure.
"At launch, the Kindle Fire will only be available in the US. The iPad is available in 64 countries, and we estimate that 50 per cent of iPad sales in 2011 are outside the US," she remarked.
Unfortunately for UK consumers, Amazon is still to announce when the new device will be made available over this side of the Atlantic.
