A higher price tag does not necessarily guarantee a better tablet, an IT expert has claimed.
James Holland, editor at electricpig.co.uk, a gadget news website that aims to deliver the latest on technology, cited the HP Touchpad as an example of this, wireless communication device users may be keen to learn.
"It's a fantastic device, and now it's been discontinued," Mr Holland said, "the prices are falling and it is flying off the shelves."
He added: "It's had such a second wind that HP has been forced to make a few more, despite publicly abandoning it."
Despite this, Mr Holland said that the Touchpad remains a great example of hardware and software working together well, adding that this is why the iPad is "such a joy to use".
"At the moment," he observed, "few Android tablets come close to marrying up the hardware and software experience."
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 5 in the coming months, which is likely to cause a huge stir in the smartphone market.
