New Freescale SafeAssure program for functional safety~

The automotive and industrial markets are facing pressure to provide new and improved safety systems that prevent serious injuries and fatalities.

Manufacturers, in turn, are increasingly requiring functional safety solutions and expecting compliance with international functional safety standards.

The ultimate goal of this Freescale's new SafeAssure program is to simplify system compliance with automotive and industrial functional safety standards and, at the end of the day, keep people safe.

The SafeAssure program spans multiple Freescale businesses and segments and includes microcontrollers, sensors, analog and power management ICs for automotive and industrial applications. Through the use of its brand name and logo, the SafeAssure program will help our customers easily identify suitable Freescale products (hardware and software) that support their efforts to attain system-level compliance with the upcoming International Standards Organization (ISO) 26262 and existing International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61508 standards.

As the foundation of the SafeAssure program, Freescale is implementing a systematic approach to functional safety that cuts down complexity for manufacturers of functional safety systems. The four key pillars of the approach are safety process, safety hardware, safety software and safety support.
