There is no link between mobile phones and brain cancer, new research has suggested.
Since the popularisation of wireless communication devices, various reports has suggested that there is a link between mobile phone usage and cancer.
However, the latest study led by the Institute of Cancer Epidemiology in Denmark has dismissed this idea.
According to the research team, mobile phone users were at no greater risk than anyone else of developing brain cancer.
Responding to the study, Professor Malcolm Sperrin, director of medical physics at Royal Berkshire Hospital, said: "The findings clearly reveal that there is no additional overall risk of developing a cancer in the brain although there does seem to be some minor, and not statistically significant, variations in the type of cancer."
Meanwhile, Professor Anders Ahlbom, from Sweden's Karolinska Institute, said that the findings were "reassuring".
He also praised the way that the study was conducted by the team of researchers.
