Reel to Reel deck

I've purchased a 1977 vintage tape deck yesterday. It was a bit of a wild purchase, because I couldn't test it.

It turns out that it's performing well. It's not a top model. 30Hz - 20kHz on low speed, 28 kHz on high speed.

Documentation is available from hifiengine.

I don't have a particular plan or use. It's just for fun. It's my 7th tape deck. The previous ones I've sold. That's the faith of most audio gear @ Cumps Castle: I buy, enjoy it for a while (and open it…

I'll use the term whenever I want. I'm an eBayer so that makes me fully qualified

I have several hundred hours of 1950s and 1960s era music on reel to reel tape. When I was a kid I couldn't afford to buy the 45 RPM pop records and albumns so I would borrow them from the rich kids and tape them. At the time I thought that the tape would last forever. Unfortunately the tape has lost some of its fidelity over time and the heads on my reel to reel decks have also worn so that additional fidelity has been lost. It is disappointing but an observation on the impermanence of our best technology.
