I just wanted to give a heartfelt thanks to the community members who made this wonderful community possible. Without your support there wouldn't be a community. 500K is a big number, especially for an online community. I've been lucky enough to be a part of the element14 community for about a year and a half now.
When I joined the team, I was lucky enough to have gotten to know some people who were around the community before me, and they were able to show me the right way of doing things. I would hear stories of all the people who were around before me and how they helped shape this community into a special place. When the people who helped show me the ropes left, they left me something at my desk, and passed the baton on to me. It was clear that they loved this element14 community, wanted it to succeed, and understood it wasn't about us, it was about the community members. The cast of characters may change, but as long as you (the community members not us) remain, that's all that matters.
For my part, I hope that I can shoulder the examples of those who served the community members before me, so that when it becomes my time to pass the baton, I'm able to leave the same spirit those who came before me left for me. Progress is always a zig zag and we're not going to always get everything right the first time. I want to reassure the community members that the people that run this community are good people that have the interest of the community members at heart. I don't know of anything like this that exists. Whenever you trail blaze a new path, there will always be resistance coming from somewhere. The great thing about being a part of the element14 community is that you're a part of something special that will outlive your role in it.
I know that there's a lot of work still to be done. We want to evolve the community around the community members so that when people register they stay active. If you have ideas on how to improve the community feel free to reach out directly to me or anyone else on the team.
As long as we continue to listen to the community members, the community will continue to thrive.
Thank you once again Community Members!
