What Every Maker Needs - Something analogue

All those number displays make you forget to appreciate the real dimensions. An analogue caliper gives a much better sense of (small) size. It is like a ruler with a build in microscope. And it does not run out of batteries.

My digital calipers runs the battery down, even when switched off!! I have to take the battery out when I'm not using it. Very frustrating. Neil

Mine too! : ( There's solar powered ones, bit pricey, but I might consider it one day.. on the other hand these analog ones are a much better price, and from the photo the dial looks to be a pretty good…

I have a digital Mitutoyo that I use every day and its battery lasts about 4 years. It is truly indispensable.

They probably use less battery when they are in use.
