"An Analog Life: My pilgrimage to the workbench of analog guru Jim Williams"

Engineer and occasional 'The Amp Hour' guest host, Jeff Keyzer aka mightyohm, recently visited the Jim Williams exhibit at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. I really enjoyed his blog post with many photos of Williams' amazing desk:

Has anyone here been by the exhibit?

I visited the museum twice in 2010 and love it. I even got to play Spacewar! on a PDP-1 with the guys who wrote it . I'm planning to visit the Bay Area for Maker Faire in May (from Chicago), but unfortunately the exhibit only runs through April 15th.

I Totally share your enthusiasm there, although I`v never Been there myself ( a few thousand miles preculdes that), it`s lovely to see this sort of thing, and the "state" of other engineers workbenches and spaces/Labs etc...
it`s a pity the picture`s down for now, when I looked last night (UK time) it was real eye-candy

Well... after having seen that, I must admit I don`t feel half so bad as to the state of my workbench and Lab.
it almost seems to be a re-occuring theme amongst the creative, in fact I have been to several Musuems of those that have passed, and None, seriously None have had what might be described as "Tidy" workplaces.
and it`s not restricted to Electronics either, Writers and some Chemists are just as seemingly untidy.

But, I would lay wager that he knew where Everything was, and could find it in an instant if need be
