What is your engineering soundtrack?

Catwell
Catwell over 14 years ago
Many of us listen to music or audio books while we plug away on our various projects. I'm curious to know, what is your personal soundtrack for your day job?

I used play a lot of classical music, followed by a period of instrumental club music, and lately I've been listening to audio books.

In my MP3 player as of 12/1/2010:
1. I have no mouth and I must scream - Harlen Ellison (Audio Book)
2. Joe Frank (Radio Stories)
3. Bach
4. DJ Shadow
5. Pendulum
6. Aphex Twin
7. Various DJ collections
My list, subject to frequent changes.

To be fair, I'm not sure how closely I listen to the stories as I concentrate at work, but it fun to listen.

    Old post, but things change.

Lately I have been listening to books, lectures, and comedy while I am designing/drafting and other tasks that do not need high focus.

Any time spent in a cube too.

    The Road - Cormac McCarthy

Short stories of Philip K ***

Stand up comedy - Any and all

Planet Rock (but not too often because they use such  a short playlist).

I don't usually listen much when designing but if I'm soldering bits on a board I do.

Best music to machine to (as in cutting metal on mill or lathe)

Sabbath, Judas Priest, Free, Deep Purple etc.
