It's a good thing he moved outdoors! Some of those fireballs were huge. I really expected that when he put the steel wool in the fuse body that it would launch out like a flaming ball.

Crazy stuff . Interesting to see the construction with the parallel fuses. Reminds me of a practical joke a friend would do using different value resistors in parallel. You could get them to blow in sequence…

I read the comments before I watched the video - was expecting to be nominating him for the Darwin Awards.

However, I was simultaneously impressed by the engineering and terrified by the numbers....................aaaaaaaaaargh

phoenixcomm That is FANTASTIC! I've bookmarked it to share with my technicians. I saw it happen live once during a transformer lab (practical exercise) during training. Of course... the meter wasn't rated for the 13.8kV the guy backfed into it.

DAB You are SO right. I've watched a few other episodes now. The 20,000 watt light bulb where he lights up the neighborhood and then announces stuff over a loudspeaker made me think the same thing. Cool to watch - on YouTube. Not so cool on the other side of the fence.
