Favourite technological word

jack.chaney56 mentioned that his favourite word was "Just" as in, "it just works" which often hides a massive amount of work done by others to make it happen for you.

My favourite is "Simply" which comes up in our requirements statements. e.g. "It simply needs to guide the rocket and land on the asteroid". We find it used most when the person writing the request has no idea at all about what needs to be done.

How about a phrase like TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) ...failing that any of the cringe phrases that the corps bring up .

I like them as they score highly on my buzzword bingo game image

TCO's can actually be realised if the Salesman hasn't sold you snake oil and the usage model accurate.

TCO won't be realised if the expected use has not occurred.

For example.  A3 Laser Printers and toner cartridges - It is a fallacy that buying them in bulk will save you money.

Unopened Toner Cartridges become stale as fast as open ones!!!

TCO: For compatible Toner Cartridges - Many just don't work and make a huge mess.

Just don't try to collect Toner powder using a normal vacuum cleaner - Its particles are fine enough to escape through the air filters and fill you whole office with toner powder.

Also don't wash your hands of toner with hot water. The heat activates the resin to make it stick to your skin!

Cold water and handwash/soap usually does the trick.
