Hello everyone i am Simeon or (Simon). I am new here and i saw element14 on youtube and some of the projects and i like them! I have my own projects wich i will share with you if you can make it greater Its about 1 game that i play and its so realistic also it has Manual changing gears with gear knob but.. i had no money to buy steering wheel with all extra (Clutch and Gear Knob) i had to remake mine and here is! I will start the project now C'ya soon! (sorry for my language i am Bulgarian)

Your project sounds like a lot of fun. With the IR sensors sounds like a better way to go because you wouldn't need to put something across the whole step and if you wanted to turn it off the stairs would still look normal. Plus I would imagine could be a lot more cost effective.

When you get going on this if you decide to use a Raspberry Pi or the Arduino if you need some help with it. These groups have a lot of people in them that are very knowledgeable and even more helpful.

Hi Jay,

I didn't mean to leave anyone out so thanks for bring it up. The Arduino is a very good introductory platform to. The Cypress board is just fresh on my mind because I just used it. In the software that Cypress has to program it. You can place chip(or what every your using) layouts in the creator and draw your connections and program it to the board. It reminded me so much of the Altera board that I had in school.

Sorry for your problems but the language sort does seem to be working for me right now. Let me know with a post in the Feedback & Support Group if you are still having problems and I will look into this further. Also in the future that is a better place to post problems like that because I and other members of my team look at this through out the day.

Welcome to the Community and the wonderful world of electronics!

A lot of the Ben Heck episodes have a lot of useful knowledge be that new or experienced.  You can find a full list in the element14TV section. Also some of the good boards to get you introduced to both electronics and programing are the Arduino and the Raspberry Pi. Both of these groups have a very active group that are very knowledgeable and helpful.
