    Gary,

Normally, either Jason or Nicole would respond promptly with a friendly "hello" from E-14.

But this being a weekend, you either have to wait a couple of days, or do it yourself. image

One way to do it yourself is to click "Reply" to any message (while logged in), to bring

up the message editor.  Then click on "HTML" in the upper-right corner to toggle into

html mode.  Then paste the following line:

        <button type="button" onclick="alert('Hello');">click here</button>

Then toggle out of html mode by clicking on "Show Full Editor" in the upper-right corner.

You should see a button that says "click here".  If you click that, you should get the

weekend version of the much sought after friendly "hello" from element14.com.

Click "Cancel" at the bottom to exit without posting the reply.

Note that sometimes paste doesn't work like you expect in the message editor.

You might right-click the mouse to paste, but paste won't be one of the options.

If that happens, you can press the Ctrl button while you right-click.

Not particularly happy... I've been a member for a few months and already posts have diverted me to an online pharmacy (my post regarding this was deleted by a Mod) and today every discussion seems to be in an Asian language.

Both viris scan and malware scan is clean, and this seems to be the only site doing this.

    David,

Your previous post regarding an online drug store doesn't appear to have

    been deleted.  It's still here:

    http://www.element14.com/community/message/79212#79212/l/re-why-is-the-500-lpc800-mini-kits-to-giveaway-trying-to-forward-me-to-a-drug-store

which I found by clicking on your avatar to see recent posts.

On June 8 in that thread you wrote: "now all the english discussions are gone"

It seems that somehow your language preferences are screwed up, and you

are not seeing English posts like everyone else is.

When I go to the Embedded discussion forum, I see recent posts in English,

like you would expect, and no spam.

Thank you for your reply, I receive an email 2 days ago from element 14 that stated "You have received this email because the content you posted below has been rejected by our moderators." and referenced my post regarding the redirection.

Please note in my screen shot regarding the language, my language setting (top right) is set to english. Any suggestions to remidy would be appreciated.

Further I point out that all the posts being displayed are from the same member.

There may have been one or more posts at the end of that thread that were deleted,

but the thread itself is still there with 5 posts.  If one of the replies was deleted, then

everything following that including one of your replies might have been deleted.

Please note in my screen shot regarding the language, my language setting (top right) is set to english. Any suggestions to remidy would be appreciated.

OK, now it's happening to me too!  And when I click on your avatar, it only

shows one thread in "Recent Activity"

This kind of behavior has been seen before on this site due to having two

machines hosting the database, because they can get out of sync somehow,

and it isn't deterministic which machine will handle any particular query.

I think the admins will need to sort it out.

Anyway, it doesn't appear to indicate any new spam, it is just not showing

the English/French/German posts in the Embedded forum, leaving 2-year-old

    Chinese posts showing.

    Edited to add:

It's working again fine for me.  I can set the language to English, French, or

German and see posts in the Embedded thread, but if give any other language,

including Chinese, I don't see any posts in that thread, although viewing

user Jackson's profile shows lots of 2-year-old posts in the Embedded group.

    Hello everyone, I'm Rob.

I have a background in information systems but changed professions about 5 years ago.

My goal here is to see if I can DIY some piano stairs in our house.

I'm thinking about buying a Rasp Pi and Arduino but I'm unsure of the sensing foot steps.

I thought about pressure pads on the stairs (or under the laminate) but after some googling I've changed focus to IR beam sensors per stair. Its all still a thought in process but I think my kids would love it and I'd learn a lot doing it.

After more research and planning I might post a thread on the project and how its going.

    TLDR - Hi.

    Hello All,

My name is Harry Strock, I may be among the oldest members of this discussion; I am certainly among the most inexperienced, i.e., I have none.

I have just purchased an RPi  -- and by the way, I went to school there 50 years ago.

         My interests are many:

            1)  Education, I have mentored high school honors science students (for 30 years) in the nationally unique Wachusett Regional High School's Science Seminar Program

            2)  Data acquisition, residential heating system monitoring, analog inputs

            3)  Image transfer,  digitizing 8mm home movies

              etc

NOW I HAVE A NEWBIE QUESTION  --   BACKFEEDING??

After doing a reasonable amount of research, I selected the Manhattan 7port powered USB hub from Adafruit, in addition the the "starter package" micro USB power adapter-- to power my RPi.

Will the extra money I spent on the Manhattan hub "protect" me from backfeeding?

Is there some way to catch overpowering before the board heats up?

         Your advice will be appreciated.

         Regards,

         The oldman

Hey guys, my names is Mason and I am a newbie to the electrical engineering world. I am about to start the process of a 4 year degree in EE! This seems like a great place to explore and learn, so I am hoping to be around often.

Thank the Ben Heck Show for me finding this place.
