Im looking into wether or not a PI will control a 4 stepper robot arm. I'm currently using Probotix products to control 2 home built CNC machines, but don't think that will work to move the steppers for an arm. Any info into this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it can be used to control the stepper. You will need to add parts of course; a motor driver board of some kind.  This could be a set of transistors, a set of inverter drivers, a so forth. The programming is up to you (but there are libraries. You will need access to the GPIO pins of the raspberry pi.  You can get a kit (ribbon cable and plug) for plugging the RP into your solderless breadboard. Or, you can get a raspberry pi 'wedge' from Sparkfun; suits the same purpose on the RP B+ (I don't know yet whether they have a wedge for the model 2). The IDE is different than Arduino, but the concepts for controlling a stepper motor are exactly the same.

Is there something like this RAMPS Shield SainSmart 3D Printer Control Board Ramps 1.4 For Arduino Reprap Mendel Prusa 3D Printing, Arduino, Robotics | Sainsmart that would work with Raspberry Pi 2? Also Im looking to run the arm with something like NC code. Is this possible via a GUI? Sorry for so many questions, Im new to these mini computers.
