Looking for good sources to begin learning.

jstodberg
jstodberg over 10 years ago

I am in the beginning of learning embedded programming and development. I have prior experience in programming from college I have some courses in electronics basic DC and AC.

What would you consider books to read or application notes that I should read and learn from?

I am looking for basic and advanced topics to learn more from.

Thanks for replies

    Hi jstodberg

What kind of programming languages are you familiar with?

Have you looked at Arduino as a platform before?

My wife got me an Arduino kit for Valentines day started to play with it some with my 9 year old I wan't to get my kids interested in electronics. She plays with Lego's and I decided lets build some 555 circuits. She doesn't know but she will be building a 4 way traffic light for her lego bases.

    Hi Johan,

Oh, I hope you didn't think I was implying that, I was not : ) Sometimes it is hard to know the best keywords to search for, in this case I knew of some good keywords because I'd seen these discussions when they occurred originally.

Anyway, I hope they help - a lot of useful pointers made by many people there I think. And do ask if you want anything in particular.

That would be great start. image

You could then make some future modifications such as pedestrian crossings (with beepers), before moving on to vehicle actuated signals etc.

Hehe who knew Lego would be the 21st century #1 prototyping tool for engineers : )

Hmm, I don't know, but I've asked the question to the creator of this Lego City : ) hopefully we'll know soon.
