Hello, my name is Martin
I have a very big problem with a 5v usb boost circuit. When i connect the circuit to the power, the led lights up, but no power... to iphones... everything else works, just not iphones. i already tried shorting the data ports with the 5v pin, AND THAT USED TO WORK, but not now!!!??

PLEASE HELP

I have now tried with adding some resistors to data+ and minus, still nothing image

HELP!!!

    This impresses me most:

Great links! Very interesting to see the differences. But clearly it was an unfortunate coincidence that someone called Abble decided to design a charger in California : )

A lot of the cheapy £1.99 car chargers are junk too, they use the aged MC34063, undersized Ls and Cs, massive switching noise, and not much more than 500mA capability although they

advertise more. And no protection from car electrical noise, (and no fuse either I think!).

I built my own charger for my car (I wanted it integrated with a balanced audio circuit I built at the same time) to charge up an ipod - and has survived 6 winters.

It uses a TI chip - the excellent TPS40200. But I didn't predict the future too well - the design supports up to 2A, but modern devices can take more than that as we now know!

There is an interesting review of various chargers and their performance here:

    and an iPad charger teardown:

i made the first version to my girlfriend, she's had no problems, its been over 2 months... What i did there was short the data + and data -, so i know that it somehow is possible image
I think i might have encountered the problem, being that i've charged my iphone with an ipad charger for a long time, and yesterday when i tried to plug it in with a normal iphone charger, nothing, i restarting the iphone, and it worked now, maybe the charging from the OP charger did somethi

also, i'm not a complete idiot to electronics, i know how the whole shenanigan works, i've studied several other chargers, dissasembled, so on, so in that way im not a beginner, maybe intermediate, i know how to read circuit symbols and diagrams, i know alot. So no, i'm planning to be a self made man, not a dude who hires others to do the thing he loves, so no!

All the major manufacturers have online software tools to design a power supply. For example

go to ti.com, and it is on their front page - scroll a bit down, and it is on the right side of their

home-page, it has boxes for you to type your desired voltage, current, etc.

But, it requires some electronics knowledge to use - and you say you're new to electronics.

If you want to produce products for a living, maybe a competent engineer should be hired - they

will have spent half a decade or longer gaining qualifications and experience. There is no short-cut

to that. Creating a hobby product and damaging your own property is one thing.. what if your product when produced in the hundreds or thousands catches fire?

Affordable is one thing.  But don't make it cheap. The unit has to be functional at the end of the day, you don't want your customers to feel ripped off do you?
