I was wondering if there are any makers or other people with an interest in arduino , raspberry pi, 3D printing , and laser engraving in the Harrisburg pa area that would be willing to get together?

I would like to start a weekly , bi weekly or monthly get together for ideas hands on and learning together .

Provided you are not a radioactive zhambie bent on wholesale retaliation, a social tranche I have lately sworn off helping, I can state that your area is due for a hackerspace: https://wiki.hackerspaces…

'Big-Box' stores and tool vendors might be good places to post notices, maybe you can do something with Craigslist

The thing to do, IMHO, is to 'go big.'  Open a not-for-profit, or LLC.  Not my area of expertise.  I am not a big know-it-all like that MK fellow.  Your town has been through many of the typical rust-belt trials.  There may be many in your area that could donate space and tools.  Announce your intentions to the press, heck post 3 x 5" cards.

Hackerspaces spawn small business.  They synergise (being buzzed does not preclude me from using buzz-words) local expertise.  They rationalize acquisitions the individual would be hard-pressed to rationalize.  They keep machine duty-cycles high.  They form a social network among the better local minds in fab.  They speed the design process through sharing of ideas.  They take fab out of one's living space, which would otherwise become cluttered.  They attract hippie chicks.

Friends of mine have actually moved to be closer to their public fab/labs.  Madison even has a scanning electron microscope!

I was going to put up some flyers to see what kind of feedback I get.  talk to people at local shops and see what they have to say. Hard to do much when I am only in town for 2 days a week and one of those is Sunday
