Laptop Battery

Okay, so my laptop battery sucks. It's not old or defective, it just sucks. How possible would it be to solder another batter to the wiring for it and gice my computer 2 internal batteries? I have the room for it, I just want to make sure that my laptop won't blow up or anything. The battery is up top in pink plastic, and the space for the other is at the bottom.

stburrell. Welcome to our great E14 Community.

To answer the first part of your question, It is quite possible to solder another battery to your current setup.

Just make sure that you do not add the new battery in series to the current setup as this will increase the voltage way above the laptops power rating and might just damage the Laptop.

You may want to check your current batteries for a better rated compatible batteries that has same voltage but pack more power (mAh), instead of adding another, so doing increasing

the risk of damaging your Laptop. At the same time you will get better power performance out of the better higher powered batteries.

    hope this help.

    Yunus.

I do not trust buyingbatteries with higher power online because I've been pretty much screwed more than once and ended up with batteries that were lower than my original. Thank you for responding!

stburrell, What is the current power rating and part number of your batteries and can you check the number of units and are they soldered/wired in series ?

    Well...never buy the Chinese make..

Not sure without opening it. But I have a screenshot of someone taking it apart. I can't seem to add a picture, but here's the video and you can read it. https://youtu.be/rXMY6nNvJrI

    Hi Seth.

The problem with just putting another battery in parallel can be very complex.

You have issues about different chemistry, capacity, internal dynamic resistance changes, etc.

Go to the TI site and look at their power design section.  They have a lot of good advice and circuits showing how to combine multiple power sources to a common mode.

Just strapping two batteries together is a great way to release the magic smoke, not to mention start fires and turn your laptop into a mass of burning plastic.
