Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen

Question

I purchased a Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen and have a Pi 3 Plus. I cannot get audio output. The headphone just crackle. Tried changing the "Raspi-config". The Pi 3 works fine when I connect a HDMI monitor and can force the audio to headphones. Is there a fix or am I missing something?

I am using Raspian Jesse - latest version and updates - and no media

player. I can hear sound (streaming off the internet) when I have a HDMI

monitor hooked up that has speakers or I can switch to headphones in

"Raspi-config". No sound when the 7" Touchscreen is hooked up no matter

how I config it - just a crackling sound on the sound jack.
