BEGINNER MODDER. NEED HELP!

Hello Element 14 community. I am 18 years old and am VERY interested in getting into electronics but would love to hear from others on what I should do to get started. I want to mod electronics, create my own projects, and repair and restore old gear. Where should I look for how to do this stuff? What should be my first project? What tools do I need? Help plzzzz. Would love to hear from some people adept at this stuff to put me in the right direction. Thanks guys!

    Welcome to element14.

     

    There are many sources available for getting into electronics depending upon what you want to do with them.

    There are may tutorials on how to build circuits and test them. I would recommend the MAKE series.

     

    You can also pick up a lot of electronics information from the many Arduino kits that can get you started.

     

    When you have specific questions, feel free to ask them here and there are many talented people who can help you.

    Are you able to provide some background? What is your education level? What access do you have to resources? What are you career aspirations?

     

    The details will help guide us in providing information that is most useful to you. For example, you have access to an electronic lab at school or I have no resources at my disposal and I go to the library for internet access.

     

    After a 40 year career that started in Electronics, I have a wealth of knowledge I'm willing to share but I would like to tailor it and that requires an investment on your part.
