Outdoor IR ( Infrared Tx and Rx)

rajkiransingh

Hi,

I am looking for IR TX and Rx which can easily work in outdoor .

At present I am using IR rx diode , but it's not working in day time.

Please suggest me which IR TX and Rx should be used for outdoor.

Your problem is not easy to fix. The sun is a very strong source of IR. You can try and shield the receiver with a black tube and use a laser diode source.

As Scott mentioned. Regular IR LEDs won't work in the sun. Your receiver picks far more IR from the sun than your LED source. You may have to try an IR Laser. Check these two. https://www.amazon.com/Focusable…

or Get any Laser which is around 800nm.

You will likely need to do several things as already suggested:

    1. Shield the sensor form the sun as much as possible (if you can have a black tube pointing at your source it will help)
    2. Put enough attenuation in front of the sensor so the sun will not saturate it.
    3. modulate the source signal
    4. in the receiver you will need to filter to allow only the modulation frequency through the filter so you can amplify the signal which will be small because the sensor has to be desensitized to prevent saturation.
    5. You may need to also concentrate the source into a tighter beam (using a lens) to try and make it brighter at the distance required, or use a laser as suggested above.
