I would suggest you to watch lots of YouTube videos about the topics you want to learn, is what i did in the beginning, there are lots of good videos on YouTube on soldering, prototyping, arduino, basic electronics etc.. best of luck...

They have beginning tool kits and a self paced course.
Their ebook is currently 1/2 off and they have a lot of useful articles on line for the budding maker.

They should be guided by a tool in most case the professor or a youtube video or a friend who knows something.
