The United State Government vs. The World.

Please see David L. Jones Blog: Element 14 Holding Orders Based On US Government Watch List | EEVblog - The Electronics Engineering Video Blog

He's right my government does suck right now. And so does element 14 for kissing US federal government ass. The more that companies capitulate to my governments onerous, overreaching excesses then the more the US feds feel justified in continuing down that road. Things just get worse and worse. I agree with Mr. Jones (although right now Australis has it's own issues with an increasingly bureaucratic, nanny-state, controlling government). Put up a fuss. Be the squeaky wheel. Comments?

True we do have a democracy and we get what we deserve. Sadly the voting population here in the United States has now voted for an unqualified and incompetent president for two consecutive terms. The outlook here does not look good.

Don't blame Farnell/E14 because it isn't capable of/willing to defy the US government. Typically companies are secretly threatened with punitive sanctions which would destroy their businesses. Whilst these threats are probably illegal that will be of little comfort to the CEO in at the receiving end of these threats.

I have no knowledge at all re. Farnell in this issue but there have been reports in the UK press of similar attacks on UK banks.

If you are in the US at least you can vote to change the US government (although it's far from clear to me just who you would vote for to stop this.)
