Hello i am 16 teen i will be turning 17 teen this month and i will be going in to my senior year, I am really interested in robotics and engineering but i don't know where to start and i was wondering if anyone could give me advise.

    I would start with the lowest cost robot kit (not pre-assembled) you can find - probably with an arduino controller. This will get you up and running without needing to finish an engineering degree. Try for one that looks like you can bolt on a lot of extra modules. Once you understand the various subsystems and get a feel for what is required to make a robot, you can start customizing and improving. These kits usually have lots of users that are posting tips on how to overcome problems and implement solutions. A place like the RobotShop has a pretty good selection to choose from - starting around $18. (But it will likely cost more by the time you have it all working)

    A cool group project, IMHO, that could be conducted by some guys in a neighborhood would be long-baseline seismometry.  Individual sensors detect the earth shaking, but trucks driving by as well.  If accurate (prob GPS-based or equivalent) time stamping and data sharing (RF?) could occur, math could be used to differentiate out the local background signals thus extracting the desired seismic data.
