Robot Santa Shopping Cart

Thanks to element14, Project14, and Robot Santa I received a new shopping cart!  I also got a new pin and blue man robot a while back.

Newark had a number of Microchip parts on sale so I picked up the MCP4921 (12 bit DAC), MCP3002 (10 bit ADC), MCP4162 (10k 257 step digital pot), and some op-amps.  Not entirely sure what I'll do with those but if nothing else I will learn how to use them.  To date, I've mostly used a syringe to place solder for surface mount parts but I plan to start ordering and using stencils more.  Accordingly, I also ordered solder paste in a container but haven't received that yet.

    I recently did the same, ordered some generic ADC, LDO etc., so I can try to reuse same part numbers in more projects, since it's getting so hard to find parts in stock. 

    Nice choice with the MCP3002, it's got a good operating voltage range and speed. I went for MCP3221 ADC, good price-performance in the cheap end of the spectrum : )  but much slower speed unfortunately.

    Hi Shabaz,

    Yes, good sample rate but I admit to not thinking too deeply about it. You have me thinking I might should have picked something with higher resolution :-). I was looking for something that might work well with a Raspberry Pi without having a specific project in mind.
