Even faster than the snow is melting :)
What a great buy. I had to choose between the Digital Discovery and the Analog Discovery 2. Since I don't have an oscilloscope I went with the Analog Discovery 2. I thought I killed two birds with one stone but now I doubt that decision. Recently I wanted to do some projects with NFC communication and with FPGA and the Analog Discovery 2 has fallen very short both in digital (100Ms/x max sample rate, logic level 3.3V) and in analog measurements.
I didn't do my homework well and read the specs after I made my choice, it didn't cost me a penny because it was a prize for a project and I'm learning a lot within its limitations.
I think the Analog Discovery 2 is a great product too! If I had one I'm sure I would use it on occasion. For the price, the Digital Discovery looked like a clear winner. The DD is pushing 100 thou' headers to their bandwidth limit.
I have also been pleasantly surprised to learn you can adjust the reference acquisition clock. Diligent allow you to turn the sample rate up to 1 GSa/s if you so choose
Here is a 1 MHz clock with +-5ns of period asymmetry:
The digital discovery has no problems discovering that :)
So if one is careful with their probing technique, you can see skew and propagation delay too! So far I am impressed with the unit for the price.
