Do you blog about your mistakes?

scottiebabe
scottiebabe over 3 years ago

In the limited number of blogs I have written, I would say I avoid blogging about my mistakes. Not to say that is a good or bad thing. In this case I am going to leave the mistake in the blog and not point it out. Can you see itimage

... not that it actually matters, it only rubs me the wrong way that I didn't notice until later LOL

Do you like to blog about your mistakes?

I blog about the tribulations but pretty determined to get things right so stick at it. I can see the mistake after looking carefully but it’s not immediately noticeable so I wouldn’t change it either…

I’m pretty slow tonight and it took me a while to see the mistake. Leave it in for sure, it adds character.

I blog when I've invested a lot of time into something and came to a conclusion, whether or not that conclusion's involved a positive or negative outcome and if that has value to someone else. I'm certainly not ashamed if a mistake happened, and sometimes it can help for someone else to step in and provide help or advice, those are times when it has value to me rather than to other people.

I've not written an entire blog about a mistake, often at least some part of a project works (hopefully!). I can think of projects where I gave up, but writing an entire blog on a mistake could be harder than writing up a success, especially because you may wish you show that you explored many avenues, captured traces, debug etc.. could end up more work! : (

I can see the mistake that you mean, but it's definitely minor : ) I would leave it like that too : )

I have discovered that my mistakes create the greatest opportunity to learn. As a former college instructor, I tried to walk the talk when I told students it was OK to make mistakes, hopefully long before their final exams to ensure they get that part right.

Blogging about mistakes helps me to deal better with the personal recrimination of making the mistake in the first place. By sharing I hope to help someone avoid the same fate.

I've visited the picture a few times and I am not sure I have a handle on what is amiss. I would only bet on my answer if the stakes were low.

I don't enjoy making mistakes or blogging about them and I'm sure most people feel the same way. I sometimes mention them if they make the narrative more interesting.

Sometimes overcoming mistakes takes creativity which balances the negative aspects.

It is usually a subconscious tug-of-war that makes the decision of whether to spill guts.

I almost always make what could be called mistakes on new designs of any consequence. If I leave them in I prefer to call them things I would do differently if I were to repeat the project. If I correct them before publishing for others to see I might phrase it as something for others to avoid. Mostly so I can avoid it if I need to look back on how I did something in future.
