There are many conferences, faires and camps in the world.
I've always wanted to go to Chaos Communication Congress, or to Chaos Communication Camp, these are kind of similar to Electromagnetic Field Camp. They teeter on the borderline between maker, electronics and information security and those three topics scratch an itch of interest to me, and in my mind crossover into element14 Community territory. There hasn't been an OSHUG meetup for a while though (usually at Wuthering Bytes).
Then we have makerfaires, While Make has undergone a lot of restructuring over the past years, Maker Faires have been mostly standalone and there's one in Rome coming up.
Usually on the element14 Community we were present or attended Embedded World, a more formal electronics and electrical convention heavily leaning on embedded hardware technology - definitely a focus for the Community.
But there are a lot of other events too, currently we're not in a position to sponsor the events, but we may happen to have someone going along to them, but I'm wondering:
1. Do any of you attend events like this? If so, what do you enjoy/get out of them?
2. What events do you attend that may be similar/like them that I haven't mentioned, if any?
3. If we did any sort of coverage of an event like this on the Community, what would you expect? Presumably seeing someone being followed around with a camera isn't very interesting, but then our parent company (Farnell/Avnet) may not necessarily be stocking any of the products shown, and there're plenty of other sites that do 'event coverage'.
Let me know, as we almost annually discuss this sort of thing among the Community team.
