Moved

Jan Cumps

I moved this month. The house I lived in was being sold, and I had to look for something new.

image

New is relative, because I moved to a place that was built in 1906.

Photo source: Brussel, stad van architecten

Although I moved from a house to an appartment, I have more than double space. The previous place wes tiny.

photo search: google

I've moved everything the last 10 days. As a music lover, the first thing I installed was my audio stuff. It's all a bit dated, and you can see that on the amount of wires needed.

image

The whole street view is protected. Background from the Brussels District.

As an American who's never been to Europe, this photo is exactly what I picture in my head when I think, "Europe." Maybe add some more people riding bicycles, otherwise this is exactly it.

Very pretty view! Nice sky in the photo too! How is the weather.. it's crazy hot in the UK currently.

I've only been a few times to Brussels, but I do like it.. especially the long narrow streets with just restaurants! I had many a happy meal there.

Looks fantastic.  I like Brussels.  Many years ago, I was working, in France, with the daughter of a Belgian ambassador and she suddenly decided to take us all to Brussels for the night!  Didn’t take long to get there because she always drove like a lunatic.  Dropped the car at some random corner in the middle of the city - never mind the no parking signs - and we decamped to a rum bar run by a lady born sometime in the mid-1800s.  One rum road later, each, and we were well on the way!  I particularly remember the unisex toilets with slatted saloon-bar doors on the cubicles and the ladies wandering around gossiping whilst I was trying to use the urinal.  Great night.

It's a shame the economy is doing badly everywhere (well, US is doing better than most!) otherwise maybe it would be a good time for the staff to have a team-building exercise in Europe somewhere!

I've not been to US for ages, I miss the Mexican food and sushi... (sushi is extremely pricey in the UK whereas it's low-cost in USA, I had it pretty much every other day on work trips : )

I'm checking my temporary lab setup, with a little OpAmp circuit. A good test to see if my gear survived the transport.

    image

This isn't going to be the final setup, or the final location (current area is slated to become the dining room). I'm saving up a little before getting dedicated bench and storage space. And I need to clean out the room that will become the lab. It's full of boxes and stuff that still needs to find a spot.

Glad that you are getting settled in.  Moving can be a lot of work, but hopefully this will bring you some great new opportunities.  Wow, those are some spectacular views!
