We might tweak the topic name of your blog post or forum thread - here's why

After you create some content on the site, you might notice that when you come back to it, the title could have changed in a subtle manner, typically to be more descriptive. You're still welcome to edit or change the title of course, I figured that it may help to explain why this may happen.

We want the element14 Community to be useful to people, and as a part of that, it helps for people to understand and know what they're clicking on or reading.

For example, seeing a collection of blog posts that simply say:

"Raspberry Pi Pico Project Blog #1"

Doesn't tell anyone a great deal about the project, only that it uses a Raspberry Pi Pico, it isn't very informative. However:

"My path to creating an environment monitor with Raspberry Pi Pico #1"

Is more descriptive and also enticing to have someone interested in what the blog post is about and informs them more of what they may find in it when they see it in a list.

I also want to help showcase the wonderful creations, hard work, and effort that members put into their content, which is why I'm keenly aware of when Google performs a search engine update, and also provides advice on naming content.

You may also want to take naming your content into consideration when you create it on the site, too Slight smile

Thanks for reading.

The other good reason is that notifications for forum postings no longer have a synopsis within the email, so the title is a good way of knowing whether or not it's worth clicking on the "view online"…

Nice to see that you are doing this as I have seen some pretty non-descriptive titles lately.

Is this expected to be the solution to zero content notifications? Or just a temporary improvement? It seems like it could be a lot of work that really should be actioned by the blog originator. Maybe a standard request could be made to bloggers when their titles are not descriptive enough, explaining why this is beneficial. That way the change just requires the moderator to do a mouse click instead of work up a whole new title every time.

    No, it isn't.

That would be nice, but in the 10 years of having the element14 Community that's entirely variable Smiley

That approach is also being taken, but that also takes time. The back and forth of a conversation vs going ahead and editing the title, often the latter is faster.

There can and likely should be a 'guidance to writing a good blog post, including title', but how and where that information would be presented so it's visible is not trivial Slight smile

the concept "subject" is also culturally different. In my job, I can see patterns. Some regions write a half book in the subject line, some are terse, some say "I have a Question", some use it as a politeness area, e.g: "hello".

On that topic, I suspect it also significantly affects how well content is and can be translated, especially by say, google translate.
